Hemingford Grey Playgroup

Who are we?

Hemingford Grey Playgroup is a registered charity that was established in 1974 and is run by a voluntary management committee. The daily running of sessions is the responsibility of the manager, with support from the playgroup assistants.  Staff have recognised childcare, first aid and child protection qualifications and are committed to on-going training.

Our setting

We aim to provide a friendly and secure environment in which all children can learn, thrive and develop friendships through play. We want all our children to be happy and fulfil their potential. We also offer children and their parents and carers a setting that promotes equality and values diversity.

We are open to any pre-school child from the age of 2 years and 6 months. We are committed to ensuring equality of opportunities for all who are involved in playgroup, irrespective of race, gender, disability, faith or religion or socio-economic background. We aim to develop a culture of inclusion and diversity in which all those connected to the playgroup feel proud of their identity and able to participate fully in playgroup life.

As part of the admissions process we require a non-refundable payment of £15.00 on receipt of a registration form.

Transition to Primary School

The Playgroup runs independently of Hemingford Grey Primary School, however our close ties with the school enable us to give our children many opportunities that would not normally be open to them. As part of the transition process the Foundation Stage team visit playgroup, the children visit the school classroom and playground environment.  This is very important in easing the transition from a playgroup to school environment.
