Year 6 Girls Football Match Report

16th March 2017

Out strode both Hemingford and Winhills girls ready for the first fixture in a hopeful cup run. Both teams appeared to have a blanket of nerves thrown over them. Not surprising, as this was their first outing as a team, and for some, the first time they’d represented HGPS in a sport. However, the girls got on with it nonetheless.

A real team effort was seen throughout the first half and the girls came off after the first half leading 3-0 with Jasmine S scoring the first with a neatly tucked away effort, and Kiera finding the net with two viscious strikes. The girls seemed thrilled to hear the half time whistle as this meant they could catch their breath and take on some fluids.

The second half started much the same as the first finished. Both teams enjoying good chances at either end of the pitch. HGPS were awarded a penalty deep into the second half. Daisy was given responsibilty to take the shot. However, an agile keeper managed to push the ball on to the bar preventing HGPS another goal.

At the final whistle, the score was 9-1 to the HGPS girls, with Jasmine S notching 2 and Kiera hammering home 7. This now means we are through to the quarter finals of the HDPSFA Girls Cup. BRING IT ON!

The girls played with a fantastic team ethic and respected the opposition throughout. Well done to one and all.
