Year 6 Football

25th January 2016

The Y6 football team’s cup run continued yesterday on home soil, in-front of a full house. The team were very excited to play their first home match of the season, against Thorndown Primary School. The match kicked off with the opening few minutes being a very close and tight affair. It took a few minutes of the first half to settle the nerves before Hemingford found their rhythm and the back of the net. Soon after the first, the second and third goals followed in a similar fashion, great inter-play and teamwork being the key. Half time allowed for a much welcomed breather, drink, biscuit and a chance to talk about the strengths/areas we could improve for the second half. The second half proved to be a tight encounter, Hemingford scoring first, but to Throndown’s credit they didn’t give up and scored a deserved goal. In the closing few minutes Hemingford found the back of the net again with a beautiful set-piece, bringing the final score to 5-1. A great game enjoyed by the players and supporters. We are now through to the quarter finals, where we are due to play Priory Primary School. Well done to everyone in the Y6 football, you should all be very proud!
